‘Mine’ is an empowering single from Italian singer-songwriter Claudia Cappelletti. Sonically, she symbolises resilience through hopeful guitars and strings, with beating bass and drums underpinning. Her lyrics are moving and powerful, allowing the voices of influential figures in women’s rights to be heard, including that of Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani education activist. The music video that accompanies the track is similarly powerful, with black and white footage being interspersed with hopeful moments of colour. “I grew up with a very low self-esteem, I was bullied from a very young age to the point that I was judging negatively even a simple act like “writing my story” as it wasn’t important enough or good enough to be told,” she explains. “Until I finally realized that my happiness was my own responsibility and that I couldn’t wait for the world and the others to be perfect for me to be happy.
